Piper's First Dentist Appointment

Piper had her first dentist appointment today! I made an appointment with a pediatric dentist a few weeks ago and today was the big day. I will be honest, I was really dreading it. I am very conscientious about dental health and have been very routine about brushing her teeth since the day she broke her first tooth. I am very anal about my own dental routine after all the pain I've endured to have a healthy set of teeth and I want to make sure I start Piper off on the right foot, too. I wanted to get her in for her first appointment at a young age just to make sure everything looked good. I also figured it would help if she started seeing the dentist from a very young age - hopefully it will always be easy and not something to fear if she's done it from a young age.

Surprisingly, she did amazingly well! I am so proud of her.  I really expected her to put up a fight but she didn't! She was a little freaked out by the chair getting raised up really high and then reclining backward but she just laid back, opened her mouth, and let the dentist clean, scrape, count, and inspect her teeth with no struggle at all. I couldn't believe my eyes. I was so proud of her! :)

The dentist said her teeth look perfect and to keep doing what we're doing so that was very reassuring to hear. No cavities  - YAY! She got a Cars goodie bag and got to pick out a brand new tooth brush. I had this huge fear that I was going to go in there and hear she had a mouth full of cavities even though I know I take very, very good care of her teeth. We brush 2-3x per day, every day and she's only allowed to have water in bed. We don't give her candy, junk food, or any sugared drinks like juice, Kool-Aid, etc. She only has the option of water or milk. Looks like it's paying off! :) Yay Piper!
